Upcoming obligation : EPB certificate for public buildings in Wallonia
What is the certificate ?
Indicator of the energy performance of the building by means of actual energy consumption.

Who is it for ?
For buildings with a total useful area > 250 m2 occupied by a public authority and frequently visited by the public.

By who ?
It must be established by an approved EPB certifier.

Validity and updating ?
The certificate is valid for 5 years.

The consumption (and production) indicators must be updated annually.

For when ?
– European and international institutions, federal, regional, community, provincial and municipal authorities
authorities: 1 January 2022

– Organisations created, approved, controlled by the above institutions: 1 January 2022

– Buildings used for education or childcare: 1 January 2022

– Newly occupied buildings: 2 years from the date of occupation

Please note that failure to comply may result in a fine.
